John's 30th Birthday Party
On November 4th of this year, John turned 30. I am proud of him, and it's an important birthday, so I wanted to plan a special party for him that was a little different from the usual family get together.
Fortunately, all of John's close family lives within an hour of here, and everyone was able to make it! It is so nice to be able to have them all near and all happy to come to our party!
I planned an 80's/90's theme to celebrate the era of John's "juventud". I asked the guests to come dressed in trends typical of the era and there would be a prize for the best get-up.
And here's Mark's old trademark glasses and mustachio.
We started the day with a BBQ picnic outside in our backyard.
Those that were there and remember, do their outfits look authentic?
Then we viewed some slides of John and his family from back when they were teeny tiny.
Next, we had a good old fashioned dance party. I got to make use of what must be my favorite 90's themed dance party game.
It has all these cards with really funny dance moves that you have to perform in unison. Best game ever.
I wish I could get the videos of this to post, but so far I haven't been successful. Michael and Brittney's family won the prize for best family of dancers.
We ended the event with a favorite dessert of John's and a toast to him complete with sparkling red grape juice and plastic champagne flutes. I must say, the kids definitely enjoyed the sparkling red grape juice...and the plastic champagne flutes. Jeffrey downed his quickly and then traded his empty glass for first mine and then John's fuller ones!
Happy Birthday John!
